TEXAS CUP

What is the Texas Cup?
The Texas Cup is an annual 2 day match play event between DFWVGA and HVGA. As with Houston Vietnamese Golf Association (HVGA), only Vietnamese members can qualify and compete in the Texas Cup. The Texas Cup venue alternates each year with each club hosting the event. The purpose of the event is to promote competition, friendships, and camaraderie within and between both golf associations.

How can I make the Texas Cup Team?
Members compete throughout the season in monthly events to accumulate points towards a spot on the Texas Cup Team. The Texas Cup Team consists of 12 A Flight and 12 B Flight members. The top 10 members in the Texas Cup point standings at the end of the season receive automatic selection onto the Texas Cup Team. The final two spots in each flight will be determined through the Texas Cup Playoff.

What is the competition format of the Texas Cup?
The two day event consists of the following formats: Saturday Morning 2 Man Scramble, Saturday Afternoon 2 Man Best Ball, and Sunday Singles.

What if I make the Texas Cup Team but cannot participate in the event? What if I make the playoffs but cannot participate?
It is your responsibility to notify the Texas Cup Captain immediately.

What is the Texas Cup Point System?
Texas Cup points are awarded based upon gross scores from tournament results. Only club members qualify to receive Texas Cup points. Please see the Texas Cup page on the website for the points distribution and Texas Cup standings.

The Texas Cup Playoffs
The playoffs will be coordinated by the Texas Cup Captain. The date of the playoff will be established and announced in advance on the tournament schedule. Only members ranked 11^th through 18^th qualify for the playoffs. The playoff format is a single round match play elimination with the winner moving on to the next round. The top two finishers earn the final two spot on the Texas Cup Team. Prior to the competition, the top seed(s) receive a BYE and the playoff bracket is shifted accordingly in the instance a playoff qualifier is not able to compete.

The Texas Cup
The Texas Cup Captain is responsible for coordinating all activities related to the Texas Cup. The Captain has the option to assign a Co-Captain to assist in such activities. If a Texas Cup Member is unable to participate in the event, the Captain(s) has/have the option to name at their discretion a replacement from confirmed alternates.
