TOURNAMENTS

Important Notices

Ø       All USGA rules and local course rules apply to each tournament event.  KNOW THE RULES.  FOLLOW THE RULES.  ENFORCE THE RULES.  When in doubt, ask your playing partner.  To avoid confrontation, play a hole/ball both ways and record both scores.  The course and club officers will provide a ruling after the tournament.

Ø       Plan to check-in 45 minutes to 1 hour before the tournament start time.  PLEASE PAY THE CLUB TREASURER AND NOT THE GOLF COURSE.  Range balls are included with your tournament fee so please take advantage of it.  Check-in will close 15 minutes before the start of the tournaments.

Ø       Once signed up, you are responsible for the tournament fee as DFWVGA has committed and financially responsible to the course.

Ø       When registering for a tournament on the forum or via e-mail, state your name and flight designation.

Ø       Be considerate of others and keep pace with the group ahead of you.  Play ready golf and hit when ready.

Ø       Exchange your scorecard with the other cart.

Ø       Be fair to the field.  Absolutely NO GIMMIES.

Ø       Following each tournament, you and your playing partners are responsible for validating, signing, and turning in the scorecard to a DFWVGA Officer.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

How do I sign up for the next tournament?
Simply register on the forum and sign up under the “DFWVGA Tournament Sign Up” section or email the Tournament Chair listed under the Contacts page.

How much are tournament fees?
Tournament fees are $65 payable by cash or check (DFWVGA).  Fees are collected prior to the event.

How long does a tournament last?
Typically, we would like to see a tournament run about 4 ½ to 5 ½ hours.  You are required to make a conscience effort to keep pace with the group ahead.  Please be considerate of others playing with you and behind you.

Can I request to be paired with someone?
If we can accommodate your request, we will.  DFWVGA reserves the right to establish the pairings as deemed necessary.  Members are required to follow their pairing assignments unless change is authorized by the Tournament Coordinator at the course.
Failure to play in your pairing assignment will result in disqualification and your entry fee will NOT be refunded.

How are winners determined?
Gross and Net trophies are awarded for each flight at the conclusion of the tournament.

What tee box do I play from?
Tee box assignment by flight will be announced with the “DFWVGA Tournament Sign Up” posting on the Forum.

Who qualifies to win the Club Championship?
Members must have participated in 3 tournament events for the current year to qualify to win the Club Championship.  Texas Cup points still apply as usual.

Who is the C Flight for?
Beginner and high handicappers are recommended to start in the C Flight.  Your maximum score per hole is double par for each hole.  Please pick up your ball if you have met your per hole stroke limit in order to keep up with pace of play.
